Is Hash Legal in Denmark?

In short, regular hash with THC is not legal in Denmark. Hash made from cannabis with a high THC content is covered by the rules on euphoriant substances, and that applies to buying, selling and possessing it.

There is, however, hash that is sold legally in Denmark today. That is CBD Hash and THCA Hash made from EU certified industrial hemp with no more than 0.2 % THC. The difference lies in the THC content and in which plant the resin comes from. In this guide we explain the difference and what to keep in mind before you buy.

Since 1 July 2018, cannabis products with no more than 0.2 % THC have not been covered by the rules on euphoriant substances solely because of their THC content. That is why you can find legal hash made from industrial hemp in Danish shops.

The limit is not an approval of every product, though. The Danish Medicines Agency states that other rules can still apply, for example rules on medicines, foods and cosmetics. Whether a product is legal therefore also depends on what it is and how it is sold.

Regular hash is made from the resin of cannabis plants with a lot of THC. That is the type of hash that is illegal in Denmark.

CBD Hash is made from the resin of industrial hemp, where the dominant cannabinoid is CBD. At Uncle Bud you will find, among others, Afghan CBD Hash, Charas CBD Hash and Static CBD Hash. They all have less than 0.2 % THC.

THCA Hash is also made from industrial hemp, but it has a high content of THCA, the natural acid form of THC in the raw plant. THCA and THC are two different compounds, but THCA can convert into THC when heated. That is why the authorities are looking more closely at products with a lot of THCA. Many people search for hash without THC. Completely free of THC is rare, because the hemp plant produces small amounts on its own. What is sold legally is hash with so little THC that it stays below the 0.2 % limit.

Legal hash comes in the same types you know from traditional hash. The difference is the raw material and the THC content, not the method.

Piatella Hash is a soft and creamy hash made from bubble hash and cold cured. Bubble Hash is made with ice water that separates the trichomes from the plant. Static Hash and Dry Sift are made dry by sifting the trichomes. Afghan Hash and Charas are the classic dark and dense types.

When you buy hash online in Denmark, there are a few things worth checking. There should be a lab report for the batch you buy, and the THC content should be clearly stated. The product should be made from EU certified industrial hemp, and the shop should say who they are and where they are based.

Price alone says little about quality. A cheap hash without a lab report can end up costing you, if the content is not what it says on the package.
